After the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) sent
the film back to the makers due to technical errors, this morning, a new
discussion has started around the film.
CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi spoke to a popular news channel
and slammed the makers of Padmavati screening the film for a selected
individuals. He also went on to say, that the film did not carry the
‘disclaimer’ that was needed and also mentioned that the makers cannot showcase
the film in private screenings without Censor Board’s clearance.
On the other hand, a few hours back, Shabana Azmi took to
Twiter to express her displeasure over CBFC’s decision of sending Padmavati
back due to minor technical glitches.
Shabana Azmi Lashes Out At CBFC
She wrote, “#Padmavatis application to CBFC has been sent back bcoz of incomplete formalities!
Really? Or to keep fires stoked for electoral gains?”

Reportedly, CBFC has specifically told the filmmakers
that they will put the film in the queue when it comes back to them. When a
film is sent to CBFC for certification, they generally take 68 days from the
time of receiving the application to give the certificate.
"When they (makers) rectify the deficiency, we will
again scrutinize it
once more and when the turn comes we will examine it (film for
certification)," a CBFC personnel told a leading daily.
CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi
Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, confirmed
the development and said, “That’s true. But film is with the CBFC, it is merely
a minor technical issue. Nothing stops them from seeing the film if they want.
Padmavati starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh is set
for December 1 release.”
He denied the possibilities of the film’s release date being pushed.
Well, new troubles unfold for Team Padmavati every day.
The big question remains- Will the film win against all the odds?
